A jaw-dropping estate in Hillsborough County has just hit the market for a staggering $38.5 million—making it the most expensive home ever listed in the Tampa Bay area.
Located at 18725 Jiretz Rd. in Odessa, this architectural masterpiece sits on nearly five acres of prime waterfront property overlooking the serene, private Island Ford Lake. The home, designed by award-winning architect Philip Kean and completed just last March, spans 16,114 square feet of ultra-luxury living space.
“We spared no expense in making this the most luxurious resort-style home we possibly could,” said homeowner Brandon Kemp, who, along with his wife Stacy, envisioned the property as the ultimate family retreat.
Step inside the main residence and you’ll discover an environment crafted for indulgence and relaxation. Highlights include a custom sauna, massage room, state-of-the-art fitness center, movie theater, and a designer dressing room complete with a massive walk-in closet. A 4,200-square-foot covered lanai—equipped with an automatic remote-controlled screen—extends the living space outdoors in seamless resort style.
And for guests? A detached one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house awaits, featuring its own kitchen and the same high-end finishes found throughout the main home.
Outside, the estate delivers a full-on luxury playground. There’s a 6-car garage, tennis court, and pickleball court, along with a private dock boasting boat and jet ski lifts. But the showstopper is undoubtedly the multi-million-dollar pool, stretching nearly the entire length of the home and outfitted with a waterslide and its own pool bath.
The Kemps’ journey with the property began back in 2017, when they bought a small cabin on Island Ford Lake as a peaceful weekend escape for their family. Captivated by the location’s beauty and privacy, they quickly acquired two adjacent lots and began building their dream residence.
But as life got busier and time scarcer, their plans changed.
“After realizing we wouldn’t be able to spend as much time there as we had hoped, we decided to list the property,” said Brandon Kemp. Still, the attention to quality and detail in every corner of the estate remains a point of pride for the couple.
“This home was built to the highest construction standards and made to last forever,” added Stacy Kemp.
Indeed, the structure sits on top of pilings to guard against potential flooding or soil issues. The walls are poured concrete, and all windows are impact-grade for maximum protection. Even the power lines were rerouted underground, a project the couple personally funded through TECO. In the front yard, a grand fountain adds a touch of Vegas glam—constructed using the same technology as the fountains at the Bellagio hotel.
“We put a lot of money into building this home top notch,” said Stacy.
Listed by Christian Bennett and Sallie Swinford of Re/Max Champions, the property is now poised to redefine Tampa Bay’s ultra-luxury real estate market. If it sells for asking price, it will shatter the existing record held by baseball legend Derek Jeter, who sold his Davis Islands mansion for $22.5 million in 2021. That home, ironically, is now slated for demolition.
Meanwhile, another contender—the Clearwater Beach estate near Caladesi Island that hit the market last year for $37.5 million—has yet to sell, even after a $5 million price drop.
